Union Public Service Commission topper, Ms. Tina Dabi will soon tie the knot with second rank holder Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan. Tina Dabi created history by becoming the 1st Dalit woman to secure 1st rank in the UPSC exam is now set to marry Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan, who ranked second in UPSC.
Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan may have lost the top rank of the UPSC examination in 2015 to Tina Dabi but clearly he won her heart. It was love at first sight ” says Tina Dabi, currently undergoing IAS training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration in Mussoorie.
They met in the morning at a felicitation ceremony in North Block’s DoPT office and, by evening, Amir was knocking at her door. Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan, floored Dabi with his wit and charm. “I thank Aamir every day for his perseverance. He is a wonderful person,” Dabi tells TOI.
The story of Khan, and Dabi, highlights how the country’s complex social structure is witnessing a sea of change. Dabi says they would be tying the knot very soon. The couple has been quite open about their relationship, with Dabi sharing pictures of their time together in Netherlands and when with friends.
The pictures, which Dabi made public on Facebook, have invited criticism from certain quarters with most questioning her choice of partner. “We are in love and very happy. Dabi says their parents have accepted their relationship and were happy about their choice.
It seems she is very happy with her choice and so is Aamir. their parents are happy too. But there will always be those elements, that small minority who will always pass negative comments about dating someone from another religion.
